Around Pune: Half day trip to Begdewadi, Murugan temple and Iyappa Temple in Dehu road

We four friends, were planning for a quick 3 to 4 hrs trip from Pune.  It was a weekday ( Tuesday) and a lovely rainy day.  We wanted to make the trip as short as possible and return back, so that we attend the college on next day (on time).   As it was raining heavily, we decided to first visit the Bedgewadi located near the old mumbai - pune highway.

It was just 10km from bhakti shakti, Nidgi.  The location is also called Kund Mala on the google maps. The road to location is good and can be reached by car or a motorcycle.   The location looks so awesome during the monsoon. It has nothing but a narrow bridge constructed over Indrani river - but looks beautiful to watch when the river over flows during the monsoon season.  We have to cross a railway gate and drive along the peripheral wall of the military building to reach the destination.  Worth to spend at least 30mins - perfect for clicking profile pics.

(Kund Mala, Near Begdewadi, Pune)

Indrani river.

The Narrow bridge.  Frequently used by the two wheeler. Be cautious to give way for them as the bridge is narrow and dangerous.

A Durga temple is located on the river.

Same location - Clicked during September 2013.  The Sunset looks wonderful when clicked along with the bridge. The perspective view of the bridge provides opportunity for good photography.

Next we headed towards Murugan temple.  Usually the temple opens by 5pm in the evening.  Hence we covered the Begdewadi first and then we came to this temple.  It is located at the top of the hill and there was no people around as it was a weekday.  A well maintained temple, with calm and quiet surrounding - A worth visit.  It has a Sai baba temple in its premises.  I used to visit this temple very often.

Finally, we visited Aiyappa temple situated near Dehu road.  The approaching road was steep but manageable to climb up to the top of the hill. It is a lovely place to spend the evening. When the sun is set the place provides a looking view of the Dehu road .  We visited the temple around 7 pm - could not click a good photo hence placed a very old photograph.  Nice place to watch the Sunset.
Location: 18.683153, 73.740319 (Aiyappa temple).

To summarize, The trip was covered in 3 to 4 hrs. almost 30kms (to and fro) from nigdi.  The trip can be converted as a half a day trip by adding the Mega Ganapathi temple (18.698236, 73.690462) and Shirgaon (Shirdi replica) (18.680365, 73.689204) to the travel list.

Thanks for reading and a Happy weekend.....
